漆は木から樹液を採取した後、その多くは廃棄されてしまいます。
ウルシの木は細くて柔らかく、木地としてはこれまであまり活用されてきませんでした。でも個性豊かなウルシの木には他にも様々ば活用方法があります。その一つがウルシ染め。
堤淺吉漆店では、漆屋として、漆の命を頂き、大切に精製しています。漆への感謝を忘れず、樹液を採取した木も無駄なく利用することを考えています。ウルシ染めはその一環。衣食住と漆をつなげることもコンセプトに掲げる「Und.」では、定期的にウルシ染めのワークショップを企画しています。
今回も能登からウルシ染の専門家である草木染め工房「新谷工芸」さんにお越しいただき、ウルシ染のワークショップを行います。

手ぬぐい／Tシャツ
堤淺吉漆店の手ぬぐい、Tシャツをウルシ染めしていただきます。

Workshop Invitation – Urushi Dyeing with Und.

After sap is harvested from lacquer trees (urushi), much of the wood is often discarded.
Urushi trees are slender and soft, so they haven’t been widely used as wood material. However, these uniquely characterful trees have many other potential uses—one of them is urushi dyeing.

At Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi Shop, we receive the life of lacquer and carefully refine it. With gratitude toward urushi, we also seek ways to use the trees themselves without waste after sap collection. Urushi dyeing is one part of that effort.

“Und.,” which connects lacquer with everyday life—clothing, food, and shelter—regularly organizes urushi dyeing workshops. Once again, we are inviting the natural dyeing studio Shintani Kogei from Noto, specialists in urushi dyeing, to lead this workshop.

How to Participate

Items to Dye:
Tenugui (hand towel) / T-shirt
You will dye Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi Shop’s tenugui or T-shirts using urushi dye.

｜Duration: Approximately 2 to 4 hours (varies depending on the quantity dyed)

• “Umeyu” Tenugui: ¥4,000

• Und. T-shirt: ¥8,000

＜Bring Your Own Items＞

• Tenugui or similar items: ¥3,000 per piece

• T-shirt: From ¥5,000 per piece (price varies depending on weight)
